Toddla T is very pleased to announce details of what some of his 2012 is to hold. Namely, that he is set to join the DJ staff at Radio 1 permanently with is own weekly show on Friday mornings 2-4am. He joins an influx of new music DJs including Skream & Benga, Charlie Sloth & Friction.

He's also excited to be getting his own musical productions on the road with The Toddla T Sound.

This new concept for the New Year will see Tom showcasing his two albums to date, 'Skanky Skanky' and 'Watch Me Dance' in a way that bridges the gap between his hugely successful DJ sets and an all out live show. Tom will be joined on stage by guest vocalist including Shola Ama, Serocee and host MC DRS. The Toddla T Sound experience will be played out to a backdrop of bespoke visuals and an brilliant light show. This is the first time Toddla will have had the chance to properly showcase his own music and other productions in one dedicated stage show.

The Toddla T Sound debut on a five date main support slot for Major Lazer in April and then will be taken around the UK & Europe across the summer festivals in 2012.

Michael Kiwanuka tops BBC Sound of 2012 list

Soul singer Michael Kiwanuka has been voted top spot in the BBC Sound of 2012 list.

24-year-old Kiwanuka has already supported Adele on tour.

The Sound of 2012 list was compiled using tips from 184 key UK-based music critics, broadcasters and bloggers.
Now in its tenth year, previous winners include Jessie J, Adele, Mika, Ellie Goulding, Corinne Bailey Rae and Keane.

The top five acts were:

• 1. Michael Kiwanuka - interview & videos
• 2. Frank Ocean - interview & videos
• 3. Azealia Banks - interview & videos
• 4. Skrillex - interview & videos
• 5. Niki & The Dove - interview & videos

Kiwanuka, from London, cites influences ranging from Otis Redding and Bob Dylan to Miles Davis.
He first started as a session guitarist, working with Tinie Tempah's producer Labrinth, before stepping in front of the microphone and signing to the Communion label, which was set up by Mumford and Sons' Ben Lovett.
He said: "I never expected to be recognised in this way. I feel very honoured and humble to have won".
The list was compiled using tips from 184 influential tastemakers, who each named their favourite three new acts.
